Debt Advice from Debt free help.co.uk
If you’re prepared to take the step – and it’s a big step, we’re under no
illusions about that – of admitting that your debt problems are out of control,
and that you need professional help to deal with them, it helps if you have some
idea of the process you’re committing yourself to.
So -- when you finally take
the decision, pick up the phone and ring our number, here’s what’ll happen.
First, you’ll be put through to one our advisors. He/she will ask you for a
brief outline of your situation, and answer whatever queries you may have about
our service. Then, if you’re agreeable, you’ll be asked to name a convenient
time for us to call you back in order to talk about your finances in more
detail.
This can be any time – day, evening, weekend – whenever suits you best.
You should set aside about half an hour for the call.
In preparation for that, you’ll be asked to gather some relevant information
together. You’ll need:
Details of all your creditors, including account numbers and recent balances.
Figures for your income and expenditure.
Information about hire purchase agreements, mortgages & secured loans, and
maintenance/CSA Payments.
Details of any county court judgments.
During the call, our advisor will take all these details from you, and explain
the options available for getting you out of debt.
If you give your provisional
agreement to a particular course of action, we will then go ahead and put
together a financial statement for your approval. There is still, at this point,
absolutely no obligation on your part to take things any further.
Only if you
are happy with the statement that we draw up, and are prepared to give us your
explicit authority to go ahead, will we make any offer to your creditors on your
behalf.
So that’s the process. But two key points need to be made.
All the information you give us is completely confidential and will never be
passed onto a third party.
None of this will cost you a penny – it’s an absolutely free service from start
to finish.
